A floor mat isn’t just about wiping your feet at the door. It’s a versatile and hard-wearing solution for increasing safety and cleanliness across a wide variety of industries – and at Toolstation, we have an extensive selection of plastic or rubber matting to choose from.

Floor matting has a variety of purposes in the workplace, primarily for health and safety – placing a plastic or rubber mat can create a safer walking surface that reduces slips, trips, and falls. Having an anti-slip mat is vital in slippery areas or spaces where spillages or overspray are common.

Rubber Matting

Rubber matting is among the most popular choices if you’re looking for a durable floor mat with excellent slip resistance. Rubber mats will help to reduce the risk of slips or falls, and also offer greater cushioning – if workers are walking on them for extended periods, the shock-absorbing qualities of a rubber mat reduces the strain placed on feet and ankles.

Outdoor rubber mats feature a weatherproof design to add even more durability, helping them cope with mud and rain as well as heavy foot traffic. They’re also easy to clean and maintain – a heavy-duty rubber mat can be hosed down and reused, wherever you need it.

Anti-Slip Mats

A well-placed anti-slip mat is an essential part of any workplace health and safety plan. Non-slip matting can be placed by entrances where visitors with wet footwear may be coming in from outside, as well as in any area where splashes or leaks may cause a slip hazard.

Floor matting can also help separate safe and dangerous work zones, protect cables, act as speed bumps and help enforce social distancing. Anti-fatigue flooring can make prolonged standing easier, while specialist matting can safeguard from electric shocks.

As well as safeguarding people, floor matting also protects the workplace from damage by providing a temporary surface – at Toolstation, you’ll find everything from outdoor rubber matting to garage floor mats.
