What’s the difference between a silicone gun, sealant gun, mastic gun, and caulking gun?
These terms are often used interchangeably, but here's a quick breakdown:
- Silicone Gun: Specifically designed for dispensing silicone sealants - often used in bathrooms and kitchens.
- Sealant Gun: A general term for any applicator used to dispense sealants, including silicone, acrylic, or polyurethane.
- Mastic Gun: A type of sealant gun designed for applying thicker materials like mastics or adhesives.
- Caulking Gun: Primarily used for applying caulk, a flexible material used to seal joints and gaps.
How do I use a sealant gun correctly?
1. Cut the nozzle of your sealant cartridge at a 45° angle.
2. Insert the cartridge into the gun.
3. Pull back the plunger and push it into the rear of the cartridge.
4. Squeeze the trigger to apply the sealant evenly.
How do I clean my sealant gun after use?
1. Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth.
2. Remove any dried sealant from the nozzle and plunger.
3. Use a cleaning solvent appropriate for the type of sealant used.
Regular cleaning ensures longevity and optimal performance of your sealant gun.
