What are the Benefits of Door Threshold Seals?
Installing external door threshold seals on your front and black door helps insulate your home and prevent drafts. Choose from rubber and foam adhesive strips or heavy-duty brush strips to keep cold air and debris out. All our draft excluders are easy to install and long-lasting.
Rain deflectors are also an excellent choice for your front door threshold, ensuring water does not enter your home under the door. They can be fitted with a weatherboard for maximum efficiency.
Carpet joiners can reduce drafts inside your home and create a smoother surface, minimising trip hazards caused by uneven flooring. They are available in various configurations and finishes to suit your home design and flooring type.
Frequently Asked Questions | FAQs
What type of door seal do I need?
Choosing the right door seal depends on the size of the gap and the door type. For standard internal or external timber frames with gaps of 3-5mm, a self-adhesive EPDM rubber P-profile or E-profile weatherstrip is ideal. If you are draught-proofing the bottom of a door across an uneven floor, a heavy-duty brush strip is usually the best solution. For uPVC frames, specialized universal push-fit replacement seals are highly recommended.
Are rubber seals for doors easy to install?
Yes. Most foam and rubber seals for doors feature a peel-and-stick self-adhesive backing, allowing you to install them in minutes without any tools. Simply clean the door frame thoroughly with an alcohol wipe, let it dry, and press the seal firmly into the rebate. For heavier applications, such as a garage door threshold or an aluminium rain deflector, you may need to use screws or a strong grab adhesive to secure them properly.
How do I stop rain from blowing under my front door?
If water is getting in beneath your door, a standard foam draught excluder won't be enough. You should install a metal threshold door seal along the floor, paired with a rain deflector (also known as a weatherboard) fixed to the bottom edge of the door face. This combination forces rainwater to drip away from the threshold, preventing it from pooling and seeping inside your hallway.
