Safety glasses offer basic but essential protection for your eyes when working in potentially hazardous areas. Lightweight and comfortable to wear, safety specs are perfect for DIY work or general use in dusty conditions – and you’ll find the very best selection to choose from at Toolstation.
Protective glasses are very much designed in the same way as standard spectacles. They have a frame and lenses to shield the front and sides of eyes, but don’t offer the sealed protection you’d get with safety goggles – this limited coverage makes them more suitable for light-duty work.
Protective Glasses
Simple but effective, protective glasses can be worn by anyone. They’re quick to put on and take off whenever you need them, and provide an additional barrier of protection for your eyes against dust or debris. Because work glasses and safety spectacles are worn over the ears, you won’t get complete side or top protection. However, many safety specs feature a wraparound lens style that follows the shape of your head – this minimises the amount of free space between the glasses and the face.
The lenses in site safety glasses are strong and robust, with a variety of other protective properties such as anti-scratch and anti-mist to improve visibility. But if you rely on a full field of vision to carry out your work, make sure you choose an appropriate lens shape – it’s always worth checking your safety specs for any blind spots before starting the job.
Safety Sunglasses
Safety glasses aren’t just about protection from dust or debris. Many specs can be used as safety sunglasses too – designed to offer additional UV protection, these lenses feature anti-glare technology to improve your clarity of vision when working in bright and sunny conditions.
