Ear protection is an essential part of staying safe at work. Not all hazards are physical – continued loud noises on site could lead to hearing impairment or hearing loss, as well as other issues like tinnitus. That’s why it’s so important to use ear protectors when you’re working in noisy environments.
Hearing protection can be as simple as a pair of earplugs that you insert into your ear canal, or some heavy-duty ear defenders that offer full coverage. At Toolstation, our ear protector range will keep your ears safer from all kinds of loud noises, including engines, machinery and vehicles.
Hearing experts recommend ear protection if you’re working in any area that exposes you to noise greater than 85 dB(A). If you’re working in these louder conditions for sustained periods of two hours or more, you’re at much greater risk of suffering hearing impairment or loss.
To find the best ear protectors, from noise, for your work, you should always check the noise reduction rating (NRR) or signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) rating to make sure they’re suitable for your site requirements.
