The Makita DCS552Z 18 V LXT Metal Cutting Saw is a thoughtfully designed tool with all the features you need for the tricky task of sawing metal. Although it's lightweight, it has a sturdy stainless steel base plate and a heavy gauge base so you can use it to perfectly marry the power you need with smooth and accurate performance.
A job light really helps with accuracy when you're in a tricky dark spot, while excellent safety features include a lock-off lever to prevent accidental starts. The saw has an electric brake - not just as a safety device, but also as a feature that allows you to move quickly from one cut to the next. There's a large view window so you can cut easily along the cut line.
The saw is cordless, powered by a Lithium-ion battery, which makes it lightweight yet powerful. Plus, the battery delivers 18 V from the same weight as a 12 V Ni-MH or Ni-Cad equivalent and gives up to 430% greater run time. Lithium batteries are also 40% lighter. This weight saving means a Lithium-ion battery weighing the same as a 12 V Ni-MH battery delivers 18 V power.
