Batten lights are ideal for task lighting. That’s the term used to describe the kind of bright, clean lighting you need to undertake certain tasks. The better the lighting, the easier it is to get the job done. It’s for this reason that batten lights - long tubular overhead strip lights - have proven a popular choice in industrial and commercial settings.

Batten LED Lights

A contemporary alternative to fluorescent models, batten LED lights are more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. With their high lumen output, LED battens are ideal for indoor commercial spaces that need bright task lighting and offer big energy savings compared to equivalent fluorescent fittings.

Waterproof Batten Lights

Since batten lights can be used outdoors as well as indoors and are particularly common in industrial settings, they often have to withstand the elements. Waterproof and weatherproof batten lights come with toughened polycarbonate shells and built-in resistance water, dust, and elements. Ideal for car parks, factories, warehouses, and other industrial environments. Here at Toolstation, you’ll find a wide range of batten lights from trusted brands such as Integral LED, V-TAC and Luceco.

Choosing the Right Batten Light Size

Batten lights are available in a range of standard lengths to suit different spaces:
- 2ft (600mm) — ideal for cupboards, utility rooms and small workshops
- 4ft (1200mm) — the most popular size for garages, kitchens and commercial spaces
- 5ft (1500mm) — a strong choice for warehouses, large workshops and retail units
- 6ft (1800mm) — maximum coverage for car parks, factories and loading bays

IP Ratings for Batten Lights

If you need a batten light for damp or outdoor environments, the IP rating is key. IP20-rated battens are suitable for dry indoor use, while IP65-rated models offer full protection against water jets and dust ingress — making them ideal for car parks, bathrooms, food preparation areas and industrial environments.
