The oil repels water and prevents swelling, twisting and cracking of rough, sawn, or smooth timber used outdoors. This also gives it a traditional appearance once it's dried. Good penetration into the wood ensures a long lasting effect. It's quick and easy to apply too using a brush, or you can opt to just dip the timber for 20 minutes. Either way, you'll be able to get your equipment clean sharpish using a bit of white spirit.
