Drain Unblocker FAQs

How does drain unblocker work?

Drain unblocker works by dissolving natural materials that are causing the blockage. This could be hair, grease, food or soap scum – drain unblocker typically contains a strong alkali such as sodium hydroxide, which breaks down the matter and allows it to be flushed away. Some drain unblockers also contain bleach, which can help to kill bacteria and disinfect the drain.

Can you use drain unblocker in a toilet?

Yes, you can use certain types of drain unblocker in a toilet – but only if it’s specifically designed for toilet use. Many drain unblockers contain chemicals that can damage the pipes or porcelain. Before using any drain unblocker, check the label to make sure it’s toilet-safe.

How to use drain unblocker?

Read the label on your drain unblocker and carefully follow the instructions. The amount you need to pour down the drain, and the length of time you need to wait, will vary depending on the drain unblocker you’re using. Once this is complete, flush the drain with hot water to wash away the unblocker and dissolved matter. Remember to protect your eyes and skin at all times.
