Polyurethane is a powerful material and is very resistant to chemical damage. When hardened, it's also resistant to rain and seawater, making it appropriate for outdoor DIY projects in rainy weather as well as for marine carpentry. Just press it into position and give it a moment to harden, the glue will pack gaps to prevent leakages and annoying squeak joints. The five-minute wait gives you time to quickly clean up any spillages before it sets.
